I am so much more than just a victim. I am a mom, friend, colleague, woman, and a survivor of abuse.<\/p>\n
“So often survivors have had their experiences denied, trivialized, or distorted. Writing is an important avenue for healing because it gives you the opportunity to define your own reality.” – Ellen Bass<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
And for this reason, I decided to share my story, my truths, my experiences, my survival.<\/p>\n
I have only recently shared my whole truth, with my closest family and friends.
\nFear of judgment and people not believing me played a significant role in my silence.
\nHowever, the truth is, he said I was crazy. So I believed him.<\/p>\nI had to forgive myself for many things. I had to take responsibility for my part, and admitting this was the hardest.
\nTo heal completely, I had to break the cycle of silence. I had to be vulnerable and share what I had to endure.
